Acharya Prashant addresses the question of why it is easier to give up some pleasures, like non-vegetarian food, compared to others like pornography. He explains that the desire for pornography is a deeper, more fundamental demand of nature (Prakriti). Nature has two primary demands: to preserve one's own body and to create many more bodies after oneself, which is to procreate. Giving up non-vegetarian food does not significantly challenge nature's first demand, as one can still sustain the body through a vegetarian diet. Therefore, nature does not protest much against it. However, the urge to procreate is a very powerful and fundamental condition of nature, and pornography is a modern manifestation of this deep-seated, primitive urge. He elaborates that our civilized selves are very recent, spanning only a few thousand years of agriculture and systematic thought, whereas our biological, "jungle" selves are hundreds of thousands of years old. Our biological conditioning is still largely rooted in this jungle past. In the jungle, life was uncertain, the average lifespan was very short, and child mortality was high. Consequently, the instinct was to reproduce as much as possible to ensure the survival of the species. This instinct led to the valuation of land, livestock, and women as forms of wealth. The inclination towards pornography and related activities stems from this ancient biological programming. He dismisses common moralistic and unscientific arguments against masturbation, such as the loss of vital energy or physical harm, as foolish. The solution, according to Acharya Prashant, is not suppression or moral policing but understanding. One must understand that these urges are remnants of our primitive past. When this is understood, the urge loses its power and attraction. He advises that when life is meaningless, small issues become very large. The ultimate solution is to make one's life so meaningful and centered on a higher purpose that these primitive, trivial matters become insignificant. Understanding is the solution, not suppression. Once you understand what is happening, you will realize it is not necessary, and then your behavior will change. The goal is to make life so big that such issues become very small.
