Description

Acharya Prashant addresses the issue of student suicides in Kota, a city famous for its coaching centers for competitive exams like NEET and JEE. He questions what an average engineer graduating from such places truly achieves and what becomes of those who fail. He describes a hollow life where the void is filled with wads of cash, a pressure that parents put on their children, ultimately ruining their lives. He asserts that the greatest love is the love for one's work, a concept not taught in Kota. Instead of addressing the root cause, superficial solutions like installing suicide-proof fans are implemented. He compares this to building a dam if students start jumping into a river, highlighting the failure to tackle the real problem. Acharya Prashant explains that people often become parents without any understanding of life themselves. He observes that the more empty a person feels inside, the more children they tend to have. These parents, unaware of their own life's purpose, impose their unfulfilled desires onto their children, becoming their masters. This entire process, he argues, is a tragedy born out of profound ignorance about life. Children are born out of their parents' desires and are then expected to fulfill more of their parents' desires. This leads to a loveless life for the child, first in their education and then in their career, which is akin to a living suicide. He criticizes the societal model where a good life is equated with a high-paying job, and a high-paying job is seen as the only alternative for those who can't do anything else meaningful. This creates a binary where one either does something good (which supposedly doesn't pay) or earns money through a menial job. This mindset, he says, is flawed and cruel. He concludes by quoting Kabir Saheb: "Those whose hearts have no affection or love, and whose tongues do not chant Ram's name, are born useless in this world." He explains that a life without love is futile, and the current coaching culture trains individuals for such a loveless existence, where they are constantly running after money and status, leading to immense pressure, depression, and even suicide.
