Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the mind, intellect, and ego are entirely material in nature, just like physical objects such as walls or pillars. He clarifies that if the material world can influence the mind, then the mind itself must be material. Humans often mistakenly believe that while the external world is material, the internal world of emotions like love, compassion, and despair is something beyond matter. However, Shri Krishna teaches that everything within the mind is material. Even the observer or the one who 'sees' matter must be material to perceive it. True witnessing, or Sakshitva, is not about being a detached observer of matter, but rather a state where matter is not perceived at all. He further elaborates that human emotions and reactions are essentially chemical reactions. For instance, the smell of a perfume or the taste of delicious food can instantly change one's mental state because the body and mind are composed of atoms and molecules reacting to external stimuli. Acharya Prashant compares human behavior to the reaction between sodium and water; once they come into contact, an explosion is inevitable. Therefore, spiritual wisdom or 'Bodha' cannot stop a reaction once it has started; its true role is to provide the foresight to keep the 'sodium' and 'water' apart. He concludes by describing humans as 'desperate molecules' driven by physical deficiencies and chemical attractions, likening human relationships and marriages to electrovalent or covalent bonds found in chemistry.
