Description

Acharya Prashant explains that education must be understood in the context of the two poles of human existence: the physical and the free will. On one end, humans are mechanical, programmed machines governed by bodily needs and physical laws. On the other end, there is the pole of free will, understanding, and consciousness, where one is free from conditioning and fear. He categorizes education into two types: lower education and higher education. Lower education, which he refers to as 'Avidhya', focuses solely on the physical world and the sustenance of the body. While this education is necessary for earning a livelihood and providing comfort, it is insufficient because it does not address the mind or the self. He notes that a society with only lower education produces smart technology but 'stupid' and unguided minds, leading to global destruction and personal slavery. Higher education, or 'Vidhya', is the real education that focuses on the awakening of intelligence and the inquiry into one's own self. Acharya Prashant points out that modern educational systems are designed by external interests to produce 'finished products' for corporations rather than free individuals. He argues that most students are being trained to be replaceable machines in a competitive and greedy world. He urges the audience to pause and ask why they are studying what they are studying and to look beyond the track of degrees and careers. He emphasizes that man does not live by bread alone and that true value lies in understanding one's own conditioning and the nature of life itself, rather than just accumulating knowledge about the external world.
