Description

Acharya Prashant states that our institutions, whether it be the media, the political system, the judicial system, the educational system, the family system, or the social system, do not have very high objectives. For instance, one cannot say that our educational system exists to develop compassion in humans or for students to ultimately attain liberation. Similarly, the economic system is not aimed at providing depth of understanding but rather at enabling more and more people to eat, drink, and have fun. Our politics is not for establishing higher values in the country; it is for a few people to gain power and rule, or for one group to have its representative in power, which is a communal, sectarian, and tribal matter, not a high purpose. The speaker explains that all our systems are running in this manner, and within a person, it is the lower centers and lower tendencies that have taken the form of all these institutions and systems. The desire for enjoyment in an animal is limited by nature, but a human's desire for enjoyment is unlimited. To enjoy limitlessly, one must exploit other humans, as the Earth and its resources are finite. This has led to a situation where 90% of the world's wealth is in the hands of 0.1% of the population. The rest of the people are used as laborers to increase the power and wealth of those at the top. This entire animalistic system is running in a way that everyone says, 'I want to enjoy more.' This leads to competition, and a handful of people reach the top, enjoying limitlessly while the rest are exploited. To prevent the exploited masses from realizing their condition and revolting, they are kept intoxicated with entertainment. The speaker asserts that the purpose of entertainment is to refresh the slaves so they can work with more dedication the next day. The media is a tool used to hunt the common man every moment. It highlights trivial, sensational issues to distract people from the real problems. For example, the media will extensively cover a single calf falling into a well, making people feel good about its rescue, but will not report on thousands of cows dying from disease or that India is a top beef exporter. The media, along with the entire value system, educational system, family system, and cultural system, is used to keep people exploited and unaware of their exploitation. You are not just getting lost; you are being made to get lost. You are made to believe you are having fun, but in reality, you are being ensnared in a conspiracy.
