Acharya Prashant explains that there is no proof that God is subtler than the subtlest or vaster than the vastest, nor is there proof that He is situated in the heart. In fact, there is no proof of His existence at all; He is called 'Aprameya,' which means that which cannot be proven. That which cannot be proven by any other means is called Truth. However, there is proof that no matter how deep you go into the subtleties of thought or the world, you do not find rest. The proof of this is you yourself. No matter how vast your endeavors, you do not find peace. This proves that whatever you are restless for is not within any expanse you can take. It can be said that He does not fit into the biggest of things because we have tried and tested the biggest things in our experience. We have also seen that the biggest and the smallest are just expansions or contractions of some fundamental physical and mental elements. It is the same physical and mental thing that can be brought into thought and experience. When you see it expanded, you call it the universe, and when you see the same elements contracted, you call it an atom. The wise understand that everything experienced is made of the three gunas (qualities) of Prakriti (nature). The product that emerges from the different combinations of these three gunas may appear different, but the fundamental element is the same for every substance. The Rishis did not find the one who is beyond the subtlest and the vastest. They understood that the dimension of experience, the dimension of matter, is the dimension of the ego. Whatever you do, you do it within your own dimension. The Rishis understood that what they are looking for cannot be found on this plane. Spirituality is the art of knowing where it is not, of negating where it cannot be found. The Rishis did not find the Truth; they found out how it cannot be found. They understood that by walking on old paths, you cannot reach a new destination. The fundamental mistake of man is that he keeps searching within his own dimension, the dimension of the ego, for what lies beyond it.
