Description

Acharya Prashant explains that according to Vedanta, there is no watertight distinction between the material world and consciousness. He refutes the duality of the conscious and the unconscious, stating that the perceiver and the perceived object are one. While Sankhya Yoga posits a duality between Purusha and Prakriti, Vedanta refines this concept into non-dualism, suggesting that the world is not a creation but a projection of consciousness. This perspective is known as Advaitavada or Mayavada, where the perceived world is an illusion or Maya, and not an objective fact separate from the self. He further clarifies that the diversity and distinctions seen in the world are fundamentally reflections of the fragmented and conditioned state of the human mind. A realized person, or a Brahmanvid, continues to see physical differences but stops giving them importance or meaning. Acharya Prashant emphasizes that identifying with these false divisions leads to conflict and suffering. In the Vedantic model, Maya is not an evil force like Satan but is seen as a projection of the Truth. Maya is even worshipped because she is the power that both maintains the illusion and provides the path to liberation and redemption.
