Description

Acharya Prashant addresses a questioner who identifies as a Brahmin by caste and a priest by profession, advising them to become a true Brahmin and a true Pandit as defined in the Bhagavad Gita. Referring to the second chapter, eleventh verse, he explains that a true Pandit is one who does not grieve for those whose life force has departed or for those who are still living. A Pandit remains unattached to living beings, neither becoming overly elated by their presence nor distressed by their departure. He emphasizes that being a Brahmin by birth is a social construct of no spiritual value, as one must become a Brahmin through spiritual establishment in the Truth rather than being born into it. Acharya Prashant further cites Shri Krishna to explain that a true Brahmin is one who has realized the ultimate Truth and has transcended even the Vedas. Just as a small reservoir of water becomes redundant once a vast, all-encompassing lake is found, a true Brahmin's need for the Vedas ends once they have direct communion with the infinite Brahman. He concludes that a genuine Brahmin is one who no longer has any use for limited knowledge or small reservoirs of tradition because they are established in the absolute.
