Description

Acharya Prashant explains that peace and compassion are our fundamental nature, which often gets buried under biological instincts. While social knowledge and development are intended to help us transcend these animalistic tendencies, they often fail because the providers of such knowledge are not liberated themselves. This results in a situation where education and civilization can actually increase a person's burden rather than alleviate it, which is why an uneducated person sometimes displays more humanity than a highly educated one. He describes a child as a bundle of instincts who needs spiritual elevation but instead receives the poisons of societal conditioning, shallow religious ideas, and family expectations. Regarding the practice of awareness, Acharya Prashant advises that one does not need to perform any additional or special effort. Since the human mind is constantly active and restless, true awakening consists of becoming alert to one's current actions and motivations. He suggests questioning why we are constantly striving and whether our past achievements have ever truly satisfied our inner thirst. By observing our own efforts and the futility of past goals, we can reach a state of alertness. He emphasizes that there is no spiritual practice separate from life and action; being fully present in one's work and interactions is the true practice. Finally, he notes that while one must remain vigilant, one must also remain surrendered, acknowledging that personal effort alone is insufficient to overcome the complexities of Maya.
