Acharya Prashant explains that while a healthy relationship appears to be between two individuals, it transcends the physical and mental realms. He asserts that the eyes can only perceive physical forms, names, and patterns, but they cannot grasp the essence of love. If a relationship is based solely on physical attributes or mental patterns, it is not a true connection but merely a reaction. In a genuine relationship, although two bodies are visible, there is a spiritual unity where the 'other' is not seen as separate. When this sense of 'otherness' disappears, violence and selfishness also vanish, as one realizes that giving to the other is like moving something from one pocket to another within oneself. He suggests a test for the authenticity of any relationship: if all past history, memories, and practical reasons for being together were removed, would you still choose to be with that person today? A real relationship is not a product of history or a continuation of a past line; it is a fresh choice made in the present moment. It is not bound by past obligations or future promises. Acharya Prashant emphasizes that those who do not make formal promises are often the ones who fulfill them most naturally. A healthy relationship exists without a cause from the past or a promise for the future; it is simply a state of being in the present.
