Description

Acharya Prashant shares a story of a Sufi saint who hosted many guests despite having very little food. He instructed his disciple to cover a few pieces of bread with a cloth and told the guests to reach under the cloth and take what they needed. The guests ate to their fill, but when a curious disciple lifted the cloth to see how the bread was multiplying, he found nothing underneath. Acharya Prashant uses this to explain that one should focus on their present needs rather than worrying about the 'total' or the future balance. He compares this to an ATM, suggesting that one should withdraw only what is necessary for the moment without constantly checking the balance. He argues that the 'total' represents the future, while the act of withdrawing and consuming represents the present. Worrying about the future balance only leads to anxiety and the realization of emptiness.
