Acharya Prashant discusses the generation born in this century, who are now around 20-22 years old. He states that a very sad thing has happened to them: there is no one to tell them where they truly stand. He contrasts this with his own time, when children who received low marks would feel bad and ashamed. Today, the situation is such that even if you get low marks or fail, there is no need to feel ashamed. An environment has been created where knowledge and true achievement have very little value. It is possible that the biggest fool in the school, who is not capable of scoring even 10-20 marks out of 100, is the school's biggest hero because he wears the most expensive shoes and watch and has 'swag'. He explains that while such people existed 20-40 years ago in every school and college, they were not given much importance. The general attitude of students and teachers was not to give them attention. Today, that is not the case. The value of hard work and knowledge has significantly decreased. In their place, the value of money and style has risen. As a result, you don't even realize that you are a failure, you don't feel sad about being ignorant, and you don't feel bad about being lazy and cowardly. Capital has made you respectable. The respect that was once earned through hard work or knowledge is now obtained from strange things. Acharya Prashant gives an example, contrasting a debater with a roaster. Previously, the best debater in college was highly regarded, which required good language, intelligence, and knowledge. Today, a 'roaster' is valued more than a good debater. A roaster doesn't need knowledge; they just need to know how to humiliate and use abusive language, and they become the college superstar. The right to be a superstar has been snatched from the deserving and given to a worthless person. This decline of values, where wrong things are given importance, is visible in this entire generation. He concludes that for this generation, 'hard work' is no longer a valuable word. They don't feel the slightest bit bad about living a life of debauchery on their father's money, something people would hesitate to do even 20 years ago. The ideal of this generation has become to have fun, which makes a person completely hollow from the inside. This situation cannot last long. You cannot get pleasure from living a wrong life for an extended period. If you lack knowledge, skill, and hard work, sooner or later, life will bring you down. By then, the inner strength to work hard will have been destroyed, and you will resort to any means, right or wrong, to continue a life of debauchery.
