Description

Acharya Prashant addresses a question regarding the attitude a seeker of truth should have towards power and fame, which are highly valued in the external world. He explains that the purpose of life is twofold: one's own liberation and the welfare of all others. These two goals are deeply interconnected; one's liberation cannot be achieved without the welfare of others, and working for the good of others aids in one's own liberation. This, he states, is the very reason for our existence and all our actions. Being ignorant of this purpose leads one to pursue various small, unprofitable objectives that benefit neither oneself nor others. For a seeker of truth, this dual mission of self-liberation and universal welfare is a vast, almost impossible undertaking. The task is so immense that any and all available resources—be it tools, tactics, or means—are necessary and will likely still prove insufficient. Therefore, a seeker must utilize whatever help they can find. In what he terms an "emergency situation," there is no room to judge whether a resource is socially or morally good or bad. The work of liberation is a great battle, and one cannot afford to be without the necessary weapons. Acharya Prashant asserts that if power, fame, or money are required to advance the mission of liberation, the seeker must acquire them. While the world values these things, it often uses them to forge stronger chains of bondage. A seeker, in contrast, must use these very tools to cut those chains. For example, while the world earns money for selfish desires, a seeker should earn it to acquire the "saw" to cut the fetters of bondage. Similarly, while the world uses fame to promote nonsense, a seeker's fame should serve as a medium to spread the message of Truth. The only proper purpose of earning anything in the world is to aid in one's own liberation and the welfare of others. He concludes that it is not just the right, but the duty and responsibility of a seeker to become powerful and famous for the sake of their mission. To shy away from acquiring these resources under the pretext of them being unspiritual is a foolish and irresponsible act. In today's world, spreading the message of Truth requires resources like money and media presence. If a seeker, knowing they are on the right path, fails to acquire the necessary means, they are guilty before their own highest ideal. The fight for Truth is a collective one, and the seeker does not have the right to lose, as their defeat is a loss for all of humanity.
