Description

Acharya Prashant explains a couplet by Kabir Saheb, emphasizing that the one who moves and falls is blameless, while the one who remains seated and stagnant carries the weight of countless sins. He clarifies that 'sitting' represents the ego's refusal to change or move from its established identity. This stagnation is the fundamental error in spirituality, where an individual uses their intellect and efforts only to preserve their current self-image, fearing that change would lead to their destruction. Such a person avoids self-reflection and silence because silence threatens the existence of the false ego. Acharya Prashant further discusses how people use constant speech and activity to avoid the truth that silence reveals. He suggests that a true relationship is one where individuals can be comfortably silent together, as silence is the only authentic connection. Moving or 'walking' signifies the act of displacing oneself from a fixed, comfortable position of the ego. Once a person has 'woken up' and started moving, their destination or occasional falls do not matter; the act of leaving the stagnant state of the ego is sufficient. He concludes that living with open eyes and awareness, even if it involves falling, is far superior to remaining asleep in the safety of one's ego.
