Description

Acharya Prashant explains that seeking immortality within the physical body is a futile endeavor because everything known to the self is destined to perish. He clarifies that immortality is not a mental proof or a physical fact to be established through logic; rather, it is a state of being that requires faith. Using Kabir Saheb as an example, he notes that while a saint's physical form—eyes, words, and bones—will eventually turn to ash, their joy and presence serve as the true evidence of that which is deathless. Immortality is not found in the extension of time, such as living for thousands of years, but in the depth and truth of the present moment. When one lives deeply, time loses its significance, and this transcendence of time is what it means to go beyond death. He further elaborates that the fear of death prevents people from living deeply because depth requires the dissolution of the ego. To reach the truth or the divine, one must walk a narrow path where the self must vanish. Acharya Prashant suggests that instead of fearing death, one should embrace it as a form of liberation and supreme bliss. True death in the spiritual sense is the act of letting go of attachments, identities, and the heavy burdens of the mind. While a worldly person dies in helplessness and grief, a saint like Kabir Saheb dies in celebration because they have already died to their ego while living. By viewing the world not as a place of fear but as an expansion of the divine, one can live with fearlessness and see life's ups and downs as a divine play.
