Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the mind cannot be bound by rules because the one who follows the rule and the one who breaks it reside in the same place. He clarifies that when spiritual teachers speak about the anxiety of the future, they are describing the state of a diseased or conditioned mind, not giving a command to stop thinking about the future. There is a fundamental difference between a teacher who gives a rule and a saint who provides realization. A rule like 'do not worry' is impossible to follow and only adds to the ego, whereas realization leads to a natural transformation where actions happen effortlessly. He emphasizes that one should not ask 'what to do' because the ego that created the problem cannot be the one to solve it; any action taken by the ego will only create more mess. Acharya Prashant further explains that freedom from worries and memories is not a goal to be achieved through practice but a natural byproduct of a clean and healthy mind. Just as physical health manifests naturally in the body without effort, a healthy mind is so full in the present that it naturally lacks the space for future anxieties. He points out that people often make fragmented and foolish demands, wanting peace or success without changing the underlying conditions of their lives. He advises that instead of trying to do something new or seeking guidance on how to act, one should simply observe the futility of their current actions. When life is lived with intensity and joy, the need to worry about the future disappears on its own.
