Description

Acharya Prashant explains that understanding is not something that needs to be consciously applied or deliberately planned. He clarifies that application is instantaneous and unpredictable; if one tries to execute it through a planned method, the understanding becomes distorted. Realization is about being open and free to realize, as it is one's natural state. He uses the example of a conversation to show that understanding happens without any particular effort, preparation, or method. It is a mystery that occurs when one is simply present and available, rather than being occupied with doing something specific. He further describes this process as a flow where words are spoken and received without either party knowing exactly how it happens. This spontaneous connectivity is what he refers to as consciousness or awareness. Acharya Prashant emphasizes that setting conditions for understanding—such as specific rituals, timings, or external requirements—only serves to limit it. Since conditions are always temporary and partial, they act as barriers. The biggest assumption that blocks understanding is the belief that one must make it happen or apply it. He concludes that understanding is the simplest thing possible, existing at a zero level, which makes it difficult to explain through words.
