Acharya Prashant explains that 'Purushartha' is that which is appropriate for the 'Purusha' (the conscious element) and defines the relationship between Purusha and 'Prakriti' (nature/matter). He describes Purusha and Prakriti as the ultimate duality, where Prakriti encompasses the body, mind, and stored knowledge, while Purusha is the witnessing consciousness. Typically, two types of relationships form between them: one of attachment and identification (Raga), and the other of aversion or rejection (Dwesha). However, Acharya Prashant introduces a third relationship called 'Veetrag', which is not about moving against attraction but moving beyond it to a higher plane of love and harmony.
