Acharya Prashant explains the profound meaning of a Sanskrit verse which states that the Self cannot be attained through discourses, intellect, or by listening to many scriptures. He clarifies that the realization of the Self is reserved only for those who choose the Truth exclusively, or for those whom the Truth itself chooses. The speaker emphasizes that as long as an individual relies on their own intellect or selective listening, they will fail to reach the ultimate reality. He asserts that the Truth is not for those who maintain even a slight distraction or attachment to worldly things like reputation or ego. To illustrate this, he recounts the story of Duryodhana from the Mahabharata. When Gandhari asked Duryodhana to appear before her naked so her divine gaze could make his body invincible, Shri Krishna cleverly persuaded him to wear a loincloth. This small act of covering himself left a vulnerable spot where Bhima eventually struck him, leading to his downfall. Acharya Prashant concludes that even a one percent compromise or lack of total surrender prevents one from attaining the Truth. One must listen by setting aside everything, including the ego of the listener, to truly transcend suffering and sin.
