Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the mind is inherently fragmented and incapable of being single-minded. It is composed of various parts, each influenced by external impressions and past conditioning, which leads to internal conflict and self-doubt. This fragmentation is why decisions feel difficult and why the energy or motivation for a goal often fades over time. He clarifies that a 'single-minded' state is only possible when the mind dissolves into the Soul or Truth. When the mind is established in its source, actions become unconditional and possess a unique stability and energy, free from the influence of changing circumstances. Regarding surrender, Acharya Prashant asserts that the mind only knows how to say 'no.' Even when it says 'yes,' it is often a hidden 'no' because the ego still retains the right to choose. True surrender is not a choice between 'yes' and 'no,' but the relinquishing of the right to decide altogether. It is the dissolution of the 'decider' or the ego. He describes surrender as a state of silence where neither 'yes' nor 'no' arises. A surrendered mind does not become indifferent; rather, it becomes a vessel for intense, fearless action because it is no longer driven by the narrow interests and fears of the ego. He further distinguishes between the appropriate and inappropriate use of the mind. The mind is a useful tool for worldly matters involving time, space, and logic—such as comparing prices or planning logistics. However, it is incapable of handling higher dimensions like love, truth, or meditation. Using mental calculations in these areas leads to failure. He emphasizes that the most significant aspects of life, such as breathing, birth, and understanding, happen spontaneously without personal effort. While the mind can help one reach a destination, it must be set aside to truly experience the essence of the moment.
