Description

Acharya Prashant explains that there are two types of union or peace. The first is circumstantial, where external factors bring people together or provide a glimpse of tranquility. This is known as union with a seed, meaning that because the individual self remains, the potential for separation persists. When circumstances change, the union inevitably ends in separation. These moments are useful because they offer a taste of the joy found in merging and disappearing, yet they are temporary because the core of the ego has not been fully dissolved. The second type of union is independent of circumstances and is known as seedless union. In this state, the individual merges so completely with the source that there is no possibility of being reborn as a separate entity or experiencing separation again. The speaker notes that life often grants accidental glimpses of peace or Samadhi to those who may not even be seeking it. These glimpses are intended to ignite a deep longing and restlessness within the heart. This divine strategy ensures that once a person has tasted such sweetness, they can no longer find satisfaction in ordinary life and will strive for a permanent state of union. He further explains that the pain felt when a beautiful moment is taken away is essential for spiritual growth. Just as a hungry person might not realize the extent of their hunger until food is placed before them and then removed, these spiritual glimpses awaken a dormant hunger for the eternal. If the pain of separation becomes unbearable, the only solution is to dissolve oneself entirely and become established in a state of total immersion. By losing the separate self, one eliminates the possibility of ever being separated again.
