Description

Acharya Prashant explains that problems do not exist in the objective world but are products of a consciousness that identifies with and energizes events. In the natural world, such as a forest or the cosmos, occurrences like death or the destruction of a star are simply happenings without inherent psychological weight. A problem arises only when the 'I' becomes entangled with these happenings, attributing personal value to them. Liberation, or Mukti, is the process of disassociation and disengagement from this entanglement. It involves stepping away from the situation and stopping the energy given to it, thereby allowing things to remain just as they are without becoming personal burdens. He further discusses how our value systems are often flawed and materialistic, rooted in the conditioned belief that one must possess something of importance to have a meaningful life. This conditioning leads to a sense of depression or meaninglessness when one realizes that worldly objects lack ultimate value. Acharya Prashant suggests that instead of seeking new things to value, one should focus on 'not doing' and discontinuing the obsessive actions that lead to suffering. Suffering itself serves as a diagnostic tool to identify false values; if a belief leads to pain, it is flawed. In cases where one has become so accustomed to suffering that it feels normal, he recommends seeking the company of those who radiate joy and freedom to serve as a reminder of what is possible.
