Description

Acharya Prashant addresses the argument that the world is made for human consumption. He explains that this idea does not come from an ordinary mind but originates from the religious scriptures of many faiths. These scriptures are based on creationism, which posits a creator God who, after creating the world, provided a manual, a book, on how to live in it. This manual supposedly dictates everyone's place, rights, and duties. The speaker dismisses this as a childish theory. He elaborates that this concept is rooted in the human ego, which places itself at the center of the universe. This belief, that everything is created for one's own sake, is a sign of animalistic thinking, as every animal also considers itself the most important. If a human thinks they are superior to all animals, it proves they are an animal themselves, because every animal thinks it is the most important. This is a sign of ego, which considers itself the center of the world. In contrast, Vedanta is not a religious idea or a belief system. It does not ask you to believe in a creator God or that the world was made for you. Vedanta asserts that consciousness is the only truth, and everything else is a product of consciousness. The stories and theories about creation are themselves products of consciousness. In nature, there is diversity, not a hierarchy of high and low. No species is superior to another. The hierarchy exists only at the level of consciousness. The signs of higher consciousness are love and compassion for all, while the signs of lower consciousness are cruelty, barbarism, and exploitation. A person who says animals are for their consumption is demonstrating a consciousness that has fallen below that of an animal. Therefore, everything in the world, including animals, is an opportunity to raise one's consciousness. They are for your love, not for you to eat. When it is said that animals are for you, it means they are for your love and for you to raise your consciousness through them. It does not mean they are for your consumption. This interpretation is a result of a corrupt mind. The entire universe exists for you to enjoy, which means to eat and to have intercourse with. This is a demonic, beastly argument.
