Description

Acharya Prashant explains that while science views the Big Bang as a purely physical event occurring within the dimensions of time, space, and matter, spirituality points to a source that is non-physical and beyond these dimensions. Science remains silent on what existed before the Big Bang because its methodology is limited to the observation of matter and the flow of time. Since time and space themselves originated with the Big Bang, science lacks the language to describe the preceding state of void or wholeness. The speaker argues that the laws of nature and physics are not eternal; they change over vast cycles of time and are fundamentally linked to the state of the observer's consciousness. He asserts that the universe, including historical figures and cosmic events like the Big Bang, does not exist independently of the observer's current consciousness. Rather than the Big Bang giving birth to the individual, the individual's inquiry and consciousness give birth to the concept of the Big Bang. The perception of being a physical body (body-consciousness) creates the illusion of flowing through time and space. When one identifies as a specific person with a birth date and location, they become bound by the constructs of past and future. True liberation, or 'Mukti', is described as the state where one remains conscious but is free from personal identity and the constraints of time and space, effectively 'killing' the Big Bang while the body still lives.
