Description

Acharya Prashant explains that since we live in attitudes anyway, we should try to have a carefree attitude, an attitude of reasonless security. This means not getting daunted or shivering easily. Even if the world is stamping its feet, shouting angrily, and trying to freak you out, you should look at it with a composed face and irreverent eyes. He notes that it really hurts when the one you are trying to scare does not get scared. He shares an anecdote from a kids' camp where he tried to scare sleeping children with scary masks and rubber snakes. The children, however, were unimpressed and just dismissively waved him away. He says this should be our attitude: when the world comes with all its terrible faces, one should just say "eh" and go back to sleep. He humorously adds that he felt hurt by their reaction. Acharya Prashant states that there is no pleasure deeper than not getting disturbed when the entire world is conspiring to disturb you, and this deepest pleasure is called joy. He explains that spirituality gives you the incapacity to be disturbed. It takes away the capacity to be disturbed to the point where even if you try to get disturbed, you start feeling bored with yourself. He describes this as a state where you look at others riding the roller coaster of life, going crazy with their disorders, and wonder why it's not happening to you. That is spirituality—you have lost the ability to be disturbed.
