Description

Acharya Prashant explains that chanting 'Om' without understanding its meaning is a futile task that provides no peace. He clarifies that remembering 'Om' signifies forgetting the diversity of the world and realizing that all varied experiences are merely manifestations of the states of consciousness represented by 'A', 'U', and 'M'. When one understands that the world's objects and fears are transient and dependent on the state of the mind, they lose their power to disturb. He critiques the mechanical repetition of mantras and rituals, comparing it to uneducated people worshipping a sophisticated machine they do not know how to operate. He emphasizes that true spirituality requires understanding and logic, rather than blind faith or superstition, which he argues has historically led to India's downfall and subjugation. Addressing the nature of consciousness, Acharya Prashant discusses the state of deep sleep, or 'Sushupti', where the experiencer is called 'Pragya'. In spirituality, being 'Pragya' or 'Sarvagya' (all-knowing) does not mean possessing worldly information, but rather reaching a state where one knows nothing of the dualistic world, including personal identity. He warns against using spiritual concepts like 'Moksha' or 'Brahman' as a means of escaping the harsh realities of life. True liberation is not achieved by ignoring bonds but by confronting and breaking them. He concludes by stating that authentic spiritual work focuses on identifying and removing personal flaws, ego, and laziness in daily life, rather than indulging in high-sounding philosophical jargon.
