Description

Acharya Prashant explains that if a person is not making any spiritual effort, two possibilities exist: either they are already enlightened like the Buddha and have nowhere else to go, or they are a mind entangled in conditioning and illusion. He asserts that every effort is essentially a spiritual effort, regardless of the name given to it. Whether someone strives to build a house or visit a pilgrimage site, both are driven by restlessness and the search for something outside themselves. The only difference is that those engaged in so-called spiritual efforts often feel superior to those pursuing worldly goals. Acharya Prashant emphasizes that true spirituality is not about doing something new or superior; it is about stopping the constant urge to act. Spirituality is the name for pausing and being still, rather than engaging in more activities. He critiques the various 'actions' or 'techniques' taught in the spiritual marketplace, stating that since the goal is liberation from the 'doer,' one cannot reach themselves through more doing. True spirituality lies in withdrawing from the eagerness to perform any action, whether worldly or spiritual.
