Description

Acharya Prashant addresses the question of why God exists by first challenging the questioner's definition of God. He explains that if God is defined as oneness and completeness, then God would never ask such a question because the concept of 'why' implies cause, effect, time, and reason—all of which are limitations of the human mind. He asserts that God is that which is beyond reason and has no cause. Therefore, the word 'why' is fundamentally inapplicable to God. He further explains that one can only truly understand God by experiencing something unreasonable in their own life, such as loving without a motive for profit, future, or hope. He suggests that God expresses Himself in actions that are done without purpose or benefit, such as falling in love suddenly or being prepared to sacrifice one's body for something intangible. While God is omnipresent and exists even in calculated business transactions and self-centric attachments, the most direct way to realize God is through selfless love and acting without a motive for returns.
