Description

Acharya Prashant explains that what people commonly refer to as their 'mind' or 'own will' is actually a collection of societal influences and commands. He uses the analogy of a chip implanted in the brain to describe how society codes behavior into individuals, making them believe they are acting of their own volition when they are merely following external instructions. This internal 'chip' is far more effective for control than direct orders because it prevents rebellion by creating the illusion of choice. He asserts that most desires—whether religious, cultural, or professional—are not personal but are fed into the mind by circumstances, society, and others. He further illustrates this by comparing human reactions to chemical reactions, such as water boiling at a specific temperature or sodium exploding upon contact with water. Just as these elements have no choice in their reactions, humans often act mechanically and habitually, yet falsely claim it is their 'will.' He uses the example of a cuckoo laying eggs in a crow's nest to show how people spend their lives nurturing goals that belong to others. True individuality and freedom, he explains, come from rejecting these imposed influences and discovering one's actual will, which ultimately leads to the welfare of all. Finally, Acharya Prashant redefines success. He contrasts the common definition of success—which is always in the future and leaves one perpetually feeling like a failure—with a deeper realization that one's existence itself is success. This true success is not dependent on external conditions or achievements; it is an inherent state of being and deep faith that remains unshaken regardless of life's ups and downs. He encourages choosing this internal sense of completion over the endless pursuit of external goals.
