Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the abuse of consciousness is essentially the abuse of life itself. He defines it as using human thought, feelings, energy, or any available resources for any end objective other than liberation from bondages, such as biological instincts and ignorance. He distinguishes between gross and subtle forms of abuse: gross abuse involves seeking lasting fulfillment through material things, while subtle abuse involves dabbling in ideologies, theories, and false concepts of love that are merely mental images rather than reality. Regarding the role of corporations and education, Acharya Prashant suggests that students should be provided with workshops or courses that analyze the environmental and ethical records of potential employers. He argues that students should know if an employer is 'consciousness friendly' or 'life friendly' before joining. While acknowledging that life is lived within constraints, he emphasizes that one must operate within these constraints in a way that leads to freedom, rather than using them as an excuse for remaining in ignorance. Finally, he addresses the human tendency to try and 'save' nature. He asserts that the ego, which is internally bankrupt, wrongly believes it can manage the planet. He argues that the same 'doership' that caused deforestation cannot suddenly become a savior through reforestation. Instead of trying to fix the world from a state of diluted consciousness, he suggests that individuals must first realize their own internal sickness and 'keep their hands off' nature, as nature is capable of taking care of itself if left alone.
