Description

Acharya Prashant explains that fear is not inherently bad; rather, it serves as a vital indicator of internal flaws and tendencies. He suggests that if one still possesses desires and tendencies, the presence of fear is actually a positive sign, as it acts as an alarm or a form of caution. He warns against the popular spiritual trend of seeking fearlessness without first addressing the underlying impurities of the mind. True fearlessness only comes when the ego and its distortions are completely dissolved. Attempting to remove fear while retaining one's vices is dangerous and leads to a state of being a hardened criminal or a 'mahapradhi'. The speaker highlights two ways to become fearless: the right way, which is through the purification of the self, and the wrong way, which is by becoming so consumed by darkness and intoxication that one loses the ability to perceive danger. He uses the example of Ravana to illustrate that while one might appear powerful and successful while opposing the Truth, this is merely a 'long afternoon' that will inevitably end. Those who refuse to bow before the Truth or the Divine will eventually be forced to bow before the world and suffer the consequences of their choices. Therefore, fear of the Truth is necessary to liberate oneself from all worldly fears.
