Acharya Prashant addresses the question of being controlled by emotions by first stating that this is the situation of all of mankind, as we are all deeply conditioned beings. He explains that the problem is not a simple dichotomy between being emotional and being logical. While an emotional person might see the solution in becoming more logical, an overly logical person might seek to activate their emotional side. He clarifies that both emotional and logical actions stem from the constitution of our body and the training imparted by society. Instead of viewing the issue as a choice between emotion and logic, Acharya Prashant points out that these are inherent aspects of our being that we cannot simply discard. The solution is not to fight or suppress these tendencies but to put them to the best use possible. He advises that one must offer whatever they have—their emotions, resources, energy, laughter, tears, and even jealousy and possessiveness—to a right and worthy cause in life. This cause must be something high, important, powerful, and beyond one's personal self-interest. He emphasizes that emotions are not a liability but a given reality, a gift that one must learn to excel with. Emotions run amok only when they lack a worthy subject to attach to. Therefore, the key is to find a worthy cause and channelize all energies towards it. Using the analogy of water, he explains that if emotions are blocked from all sides, they will accumulate and create a deluge; instead, they must be channelized to a place where they can foster growth. Suppression is only useful if it leads to a greater channelization towards a higher purpose. The journey to liberation begins from one's current state; if one is at a point of emotionality, that is the starting point for their travel.
