Description

Acharya Prashant explains that according to Vedanta, there is no watertight distinction between the unconscious material world and consciousness. He refutes the duality of the conscious and the unconscious, stating that the perceived object and the perceiver are essentially one. While Samkhya Yoga posits a duality between Purusha and Prakrti, Vedanta refines this concept by asserting their non-duality. The appearance of a separate, objective world is described as an illusion or projection rather than a creation. In Vedanta, there is no creator or creation, only the appearance of the world through the process of projection. He further elaborates that the diversity and distinctions seen in the world are fundamentally reflections of the fragmented and conditioned state of the human mind. For a realized person, or a Brahmavid, these physical differences may still be visible to the eyes, but they cease to hold any material significance or meaning. Acharya Prashant emphasizes that the sense of division and diversity is the root of conflict. By realizing that these distinctions are fundamentally false, one can move beyond the tyranny of diversity and the impulse to fight others based on differing identities or ideologies. Finally, he clarifies the relationship between the truth and the false, noting that in Vedanta, the false is a projection of the truth rather than its opposite. He explains that Maya is not an evil force or a Satan-like figure fighting against God, but is instead seen as the daughter of Brahman. Maya is both the source of illusion and the path to liberation and redemption. This model of reality is presented as a more authentic and solid understanding of existence, where Maya is respected and even worshiped for her role in the journey toward truth.
