Description

Acharya Prashant explains that love operates on a principle entirely different from worldly transactions. In the world, you receive when someone gives to you, but in the realm of love, you only receive when you give. While others may shower you with love, it will not truly reach you or increase within your heart until you begin to share it yourself. He emphasizes that the more one gives, the more one's internal abundance grows, citing the Upanishadic principle that even if the whole is taken from the whole, the whole remains. Waiting to receive love before giving it is a futile approach; one must start giving to experience it. He defines love as the mind becoming silent and moving closer to its source. The mind is naturally attracted to peace, and this attraction is what we call love. As the mind becomes peaceful, the tendency to hold onto things diminishes, and one begins to share everything—time, being, and resources—without the stinginess of a miser. This act of giving is where true joy lies. While a saint's giving might inspire others, it is not guaranteed to awaken everyone. For those who remain untouched, the only remedy is prayer. Prayer, according to Acharya Prashant, is not a specific ritual or posture but the act of asking for the highest possible truth. Asking for anything beyond the material world, such as liberation, joy, or love, constitutes true prayer. He notes that if a question about love is honest, it is a prayer in itself and is automatically accepted. An honest seeker recognizes the value of the highest truth and naturally lets go of lower, valueless things. Ultimately, the only thing truly worth giving is love, and a person who understands this will distribute it freely.
