Description

Acharya Prashant explains that attempting to change one's thoughts from bad to good provides only partial improvement. When a person tries to replace an unwanted thought with a preferred one, they experience a sense of security and pride because both the 'bad' and 'good' thoughts belong to the known realm. This process of correction is driven by the ego's desire to be a 'doer' who fixes things. However, this prevents a deeper understanding of the mind's patterns. True transformation occurs through pure observation and being a witness rather than a doer. He emphasizes that pure observation requires courage and faith because it involves staying with an unpleasant thought without reacting to it. If one immediately tries to suppress or change a thought, like chasing a mouse the moment it is seen, one will never find its source or 'burrow.' By remaining a witness, one allows the natural intelligence of consciousness to act. This leads to 'right action' that happens spontaneously and beautifully, often surprising the individual. Acharya Prashant concludes that instead of trying to manage or improve thoughts, one should simply observe them, whether they are thoughts of anger or anything else, and let the subsequent actions unfold on their own.
