Description

Acharya Prashant explains that Shri Krishna's 'Yogmaya' is not a magical trick but the very nature of the world and the ego. He clarifies that the fundamental illusion is the ego's belief that it is incomplete and fragmented. Since the world is perceived as a collection of finite, fragmented parts, it is considered illusory because the ultimate truth is infinite, boundless, and indivisible. The ego, being fragmented itself, seeks completion by trying to acquire other fragments of the world, falsely believing that these external objects will lead to wholeness. This entire cycle of seeking and the perception of a fragmented reality is what constitutes Maya. He further elaborates that if the Self is the only truth, then even the ego and the illusion must originate from it. The ego is described as the Self's own voluntary play or 'Leela'. Just as a lie must rely on the concept of truth to exist, the unreal world depends on the total reality for its appearance. Acharya Prashant emphasizes that everything in the world is subjective and happens in relation to the 'I'. To transcend the suffering of this drama, one does not necessarily need to stop the play but should instead maintain a distance, observing it like an audience member rather than being drained by it.
