Description

Acharya Prashant explains that change is an inherent and unavoidable aspect of life because we exist within time, and the very definition of time is change. He asserts that it is futile to label change as right or wrong because it is a constant reality that cannot be stopped. Everything that exists in the dimensions of time, space, and matter is bound to change, and attempting to prevent this natural progression is a form of madness. He points out that humans often suffer because they try to hold onto external things—such as people, wealth, and the physical body—hoping they will remain constant, even though their nature is to perish or transform. He further clarifies that while the external world is in a state of flux, there is a dimension within a person that is beyond time and remains unchanging. Because people are unaware of this eternal dimension, they mistakenly seek constancy in the material world where it cannot be found. Acharya Prashant identifies this unchanging center as attention or consciousness, which observes all changes without being affected by them. He advises that one should allow external changes to happen freely without resistance while simultaneously realizing the internal constant. By distinguishing between what changes and what does not, one can live with a sense of mastery and joy.
