Acharya Prashant explains that images of spiritual figures like Shri Krishna or Jesus Christ were originally provided as a noble solution to clear the mind of harmful, random, and miscellaneous images. Since the human mind is naturally inclined toward thoughts, stories, and myths, it often refuses to accept anything other than an image. Therefore, a pristine image is used as a tool to bust other nonsensical images. Ideally, once an image has served its purpose of cleansing the mind, it should dissolve. However, because the tendency to imagine remains strong due to bodily and genetic predispositions, many people find it necessary to stick to a holy image lifelong to keep worldly influences at bay.
