Acharya Prashant explains that the constant arising of thoughts is a result of one's past and the way one lives. He clarifies that the desire to be free from thoughts is itself just another thought, often arising from the same duality as the disturbing thought. Thoughts flourish against the backdrop of their opposites; for instance, the thought of food only arises in the presence of hunger. He emphasizes that thoughts are the result of unresolved issues and unaddressed questions from the past. When a person leaves things incomplete or suppresses emotions, these elements resurface as restless thoughts seeking resolution. Therefore, the first principle is to live a life that leaves little for the future and involves minimal internal suppression.
