Description

Acharya Prashant explains that everything bound by time is inherently incomplete and limited. He posits that human beings feel a constant restlessness because of an innate demand for completeness. Even when one tries to convince the mind that the partial and temporary aspects of life are sufficient, the sting of incompleteness remains. This inner yearning for the infinite is not something that can be explained or dismissed through logic; it is a fundamental fact of existence. He compares this to a thirsty person who simply needs water and cannot be satisfied by lectures or small, limited offerings. The human desire is for the infinite, and since the world can only offer limited things, it can never truly satisfy the soul. He further describes the relationship between the individual (Jiva) and the soul (Atma) as a form of 'sweet slavery' or an 'inevitable love.' One may try to break away, forget, or even 'break up' with this inner truth, but the pull remains constant. He suggests that humans are born as lovers of the infinite, and any attempt to find lasting fulfillment in the material world is like an expanse of sky trying to find itself by rolling in the mud. While one may enjoy the 'mud' of the world for a short time, one's true nature remains as vast as the sky. Ultimately, seeking the infinite in the finite world leads only to exhaustion and distress because the worldly 'wealth' is actually a form of poverty compared to the true abundance of the soul.
