Description

Acharya Prashant explains that restlessness often stems from a false self-image where one considers themselves a 'hero' who is currently helpless or waiting for the right time to act. This restlessness gives a false sense of goodness while avoiding immediate responsibility. He points out that running away from an environment one dislikes only reinforces the ego, as it suggests that the individual is right and the situation is wrong. This cycle of fleeing from one situation to another ensures that the person remains unchanged, merely migrating between different rooms of the same internal prison. True action, he argues, is possible only without this ego-driven restlessness. He emphasizes that restlessness prevents a person from seeing themselves as the root cause of their own suffering. Instead of acknowledging internal flaws, the restless mind blames circumstances, other people, or bad timing. Acharya Prashant suggests that spiritual growth requires the courage to stay still and face the reality of one's 'illness' or state of being without trying to escape it. He clarifies that admitting one is 'ill' while knowing that one's true nature is 'health' is the beginning of healing. This honesty bridges the gap between who one thinks they are and who they truly are. Finally, he describes spirituality as the ability to live on two levels simultaneously: acknowledging the pains and needs of the mind and body while remaining anchored in the fullness of the soul. He calls this the true meaning of Non-duality. It is not the absence of duality, but the state of remaining untouched by it. One must be able to say that while the body feels hunger or the mind feels loss, the core self remains complete and joyful. This balance of being both realistic about worldly suffering and romantic about spiritual truth is the essence of a truthful life.
