In response to a question about avoiding bad addictions and focusing on goals during teenage years, Acharya Prashant explains that the key is to have a goal that is sufficiently alluring and captivating. When one has such a goal, all kinds of addictions and the wastage of time, energy, and money will not happen on their own. He illustrates this with the example of being engrossed in a meaningful activity, like playing cricket. When a person is batting or bowling, they are fully in the game and have no inclination for distractions like ordering a pizza or gossiping. This state of being in attention, loving the game, and having nothing else on one's mind is the best way to live. Acharya Prashant likens life to a game where one is either on the "crease"—fully engaged and focused—or in the "pavilion," where all kinds of distractions arise. When one is not in the game, they are susceptible to fighting, oversleeping, overeating, smoking, and gambling. He encourages being continuously on the crease, treating life as a rally between oneself and Maya (illusion). To avoid distractions, one must remain in this rally forever. This requires being concentrated and densely focused on one thing, a concept of unification or oneness that the wise have always spoken of. To find this central purpose, one must keep trying and see life as a continuous movement towards that "one thing." If one cannot concentrate on the one thing, they should concentrate on the process of getting to it. He advises believing that one is destined for the highest and greatest possible place, and therefore, to never settle down. One should constantly ask how to evolve, learn, be better, and move on, as no place is a final destination. When one's eyes are firmly set on greatness, all other distractions will seem childish. He concludes that people get distracted by trivial things because they do not engage with life deeply enough. The solution is to dive deep into life, get fully into any activity, and make total engagement a habit.
