Description

Acharya Prashant explains that to avoid getting hurt, one must dedicate their time to something sublime. When you are fully dedicated to something worthy, you will not be available to get hurt. The reason you are hurt is that you are available, walking around with free mental space and spare time. Life hurts and wounds only those who are "jobless." To be born is to be born into one great, lifelong job: the mission of liberation. This is a full-time, 24/7/365 occupation. When you do not do justice to your real occupation, you are stealing time, and the punishment is that the world will hurt you. Your theft costs you dearly. You must be fully consumed in the one great, divine mission; otherwise, life will beat you down very badly. The time you have is not your personal property; it has been entrusted to you for a designated purpose. The speaker illustrates this with an anecdote about how Satan corrupts a being: by whispering, "Your time is your time." This is the false assumption we live by, believing we have personal time. Not a second of your time is yours. When you get caught in pettiness, it's because you stole time. The question to ask is, "From where did you get the time to be caught in pettiness? You thief." He compares this to a child who was entrusted with his books but ran off to play and got bruised. The father's first question should be about why the child violated his trust and stole time. If you are suffering, you are the one responsible. Unless you fully accept that responsibility, there is no freedom.
